Welcome to the G.O.A.C.
The general purpose of the Greater Olean Association of Churches is to provide multi -denominational cooperative activities for churches and members of churches in the Olean, New York area to manifest the charitable ideals underlying the teachings of Jesus Christ. The premise of our common belief is that which is prescribed in the Apostle’s Creed. The organization has as its chief objective the development of interdenominational, cooperative, community programs and activities for youth, the elderly, the infirm and disadvantaged.
The version of the Apostle’s Creed that we use is from the English Language Liturgical Consultation (ELLC). An international ecumenical group whose primary purpose is to provide ecumenically accepted texts for those who use English in their liturgy.
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
